The Australian Government, through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is inviting feedback on proposed scheduling decisions for managing four chemicals of concern for the environment, these being brominated flame retardants used in textiles, electronics, and aircraft and automotive spare parts.

Consultation on proposed standards to manage four brominated flame retardant chemicals – decabromodiphenyl ether (decaBDE), octabromodiphenyl ether (octaBDE), pentabromodiphenyl ether (pentaBDE) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD) is open from 25 September 2023.

Feedback will help Australian governments and businesses to effectively manage the environmental risks of these chemicals while permitting essential industrial uses for public safety, economic and other purposes.

To have your say, or find out more, visit the Australian Government DCCEEW’s Industrial Chemicals Environmental Management Standard website before submissions close on 25 October 2023.
