Pastoral Land Board

Published

In a significant development for the Northern Territory's pastoral industry, the Pastoral Land Board has recently welcomed 6 new members.

The fresh faces that joined the Board are Allan Andrews, Danny Hayes, Dr Michael Wellington, Dr Sue Fitzpatrick, Gemma Lake, and Paul Burke, along with the reappointment of Roy Chisholm. These appointments, when combined with the existing members, Julie Ross, Dr Leigh Hunt, and Alastair Shields, form a diverse and knowledgeable group with a wide range of backgrounds and expertise.

Collectively, the Board now has applied experience across 9 of the 11 pastoral districts, and together with specialist members provides for one of the strongest compositions to date. There is extensive experience in pastoral management, rangelands science, remote sensing, governance, native title, law, and biosecurity. This broad representation and knowledge across the NT Pastoral Estate enhances the Board’s ability to address the unique challenges and opportunities within each district and ensures that the Board benefits from a diverse range of perspectives and experiences.

The first meeting of the new look Board took place in Palmerston on 19 September 2023.
