Adelaide River water advisory committee appointed

Published

Members of the Adelaide River Water Advisory Committee have been appointed by the Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Water Security, an important next step in the department’s development of a water plan for the region.

The Minister for Environment, Climate Change and Water Security appointed members to the Adelaide River Water Advisory Committee (WAC) on 24 July 2024 for a term of 4 years.

The WAC is the first to be established for the Adelaide River water allocation plan area and will provide advice to the Minister on the development of the draft plan for public consultation in 2025, and the implementation of the declared plan from 2026.

WAC membership reflects the local community, including the primary beneficial uses of water in the region and has 73% representation of Aboriginal members.

The WAC will meet for the first time on 28 August 2024 and will be provided with an overview of the water regulatory framework and an understanding of the water resource including water sharing objectives.

Further information in relation to the committee is available on our website.
