Cultivating a greener future: Weed Management Team inspires knowledge and action at Girraween Primary School’s Field Day 2024

Published

The Weed Management Branch (WMB) engaged students, parents and teachers during the annual Girraween Primary School Field Day on Wednesday 18 September 2024.

This year’s event, themed 'Planting the Seed', brought together schools, artists, businesses, and NT Government departments to promote sustainability and a greener future. Georgia McAlister, Joshua Maeer, and Gerald Danao of the WMB presented local weeds, the importance of reporting them, and the use of biological control agents through live specimens. The team also hosted a fun storytelling competition for children, blending education with entertainment while fostering environmental stewardship and community involvement.
