Let us take care of your holiday plans - become a volunteer caretaker in Limmen National Park

Published

Located on the Roper River, right in the heart of barra country, there is a picturesque campground in need of a new volunteer caretaker or two.

Caretakers at Munbililla Campground (Tomato Island) are responsible for the upkeep of the grounds and amenities, but there’s also ample time for all the fishing, four-wheel driving and exploring that your heart desires. The Roper River is one of the Northern Territory (NT)’s premier fishing destinations, making Munbililla the ideal holiday destination for keen anglers and even though there are plenty of human visitors to the campsite, most of your “noisy neighbours” will be the extensive birdlife, making this the ideal destination for serious bird watchers.

Just remember to Be Crocwise around the lagoons and rivers.

This is an ideal opportunity for an individual or couple who doesn’t shy away from remote area camping. The campground at Munbililla is far from the madding crowd but well serviced with sweeping lawns, fantastic ablutions facilities, full mobile phone coverage, and an all-weather boat ramp. For the comfort of our volunteers there’s also a great air-conditioned donga, a fantastic and fully equipped retreat during the heat of the day or when the mozzies are biting as fast as the fish at night.

Volunteer placements of two months or longer are available. Duties include: maintaining the lawn, cleaning amenities and barbeques, doing the occasional tip run, and some weed control.
