Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Grants Open for Applications

Published

Applications are open for the next round of Northern Territory Government grants to support rescue, care and rehabilitation of native wildlife and release back to their environment.

More funding will be available to eligible wildlife rehabilitation organisations to provide the service for the Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs regions. For the first time, more than one organisation may be selected for funding to provide the service within the Darwin region.

Annual funding has increased from $50,000 per year to $250,000 per year. Successful applicants will enter into a five-year funding agreement with milestones and targets to ensure the service level remains high for the community and wildlife, as well as delivering value for money for the Government.

These grants will be used for costs connected with collection of and care for sick, injured or orphaned wildlife, as well as other operational costs, including those that may arise from a new Code of Practice for the Care, Rehabilitation and Release of protected wildlife in the Northern Territory (Code of Practice), currently under development for adoption under the Animal Protection Regulations 2022.

Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation grants are managed through Grants NT. Interested groups are encouraged to register with Grants NT and submit a full and detailed application before midday, Monday 6 May 2024.

Additional information and application forms can be found at the Northern Territory Government website or by calling the Wildlife Operations team on 08 8995 5008.  All applications must be filled in on line and submitted through Grants NT.
