Development coordination
The Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security provides development coordination assistance to proponents to support them through environmental regulatory approvals that may be required for project development.
Regulatory Efficiency Program
The department has streamlined and accelerated environmental and natural resource approvals as part of an overarching Regulatory Efficiency Program whilst maintaining existing assessment rigour.
These are the most significant reforms of the Northern Territory’s environmental laws and regulations since self-government. Read more about the Regulatory Efficiency Program.
Single point of contact
The Development Coordination Branch provide proponents with a single point of contact into the department. Officers will assist proponents to determine which areas of the department can assist and which approvals are required for specific developments.
The branch can arrange meetings with relevant officers within the department, ensuring proponents have access to the relevant advice and information they require.
Approvals mapping
The branch will assist proponents by mapping required approval processes and timeframes for individual projects. This tailored mapping enables the department to identify what approvals are required, the order of the approvals and where approval processes can run concurrently or be streamlined.
The mapped processes for each project are provided in the tabs below, providing transparency to proponents, industry and the public on the approvals required and the progress of these approvals.
