2010 report cards

The 2010 report cards include information and diagrams to help you understand water quality issues and processes in the region, including: 

• understanding water quality and pollution sources
• interpreting the report cards
• water quality ratings from 'A to E' for marine and freshwaters in the region.

A snapshot of a few of the species that depend on the Harbour's waters is also presented in the report.

You may not know the following information about Darwin Harbour's biodiversity:

• there are at least three species of cyanobacteria and algae that bloom and are commonly washed up on Darwin's beaches in the Dry Season. Some blooms may look like an oil slick, but are completely natural
• Darwin Harbour has 1,096 identified species of molluscs
• the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory is involved with the collection of marine invertebrates, including sponges for screening of anti-cancer and anti-viral compounds.
