Methane and greenhouse gas studies for Beetaloo Sub-basin

Greenhouse gases (particularly methane) are released into the atmosphere from both natural and human sources.

To establish a baseline for greenhouse gases in a region, it is important to understand:

  • current concentrations and how they change over time
  • both natural and human sources and their location
  • areas where there may be higher risk of emissions from naturally occurring natural gas.
